Multilevel Car Parking

Multilevel Car Parking

Smart minds for Tough projects!

Apollo Hospitals inaugurated an automated multi-level vehicle parking facility built at a cost of ₹43 crore. Spread over about 25,000 sq ft, the facility can accommodate 249 cars and 280 two-wheelers. Apollo Hospitals has designed and built it, and will have to operate it for 20 years before handing over the facility to the Corporation of Chennai. The hospital will also have to pay the civic body ₹48 lakh a year as per the concession agreement. The hospital has not started charging the users as it wants to overcome all the teething problems.

Taking into consideration the high traffic volume near Apollo Hospitals, the municipal corporation identified Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited to execute the car parking scheme on a design, build, operate and transfer basis. The automated facility has lifts, pallets and a computerised control system with high security. A lift will take the car to the first floor and from there it will be put on an elevator that takes it to other floors, based on space available. Sensors will detect empty space. A system of pallets and lifts moves the car from the elevator to the parking space and follows the same method to retrieve them. A board displays the registration numbers of the vehicles descending towards the drive.
