Guindy Industrial Estate, also called as Thiru Vi Ka Industrial Estate, was the first Industrial Estate set up in the country. The Estate situated in Guindy within the Chennai Metropolitan Area is spread over an area of 404 acres and houses about 700 units. The Estate is being managed by Small Industries Development Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (SIDCO), a Government of Tamil Nadu undertaking.
Over the years, the civic infrastructure within the Estate premises had deteriorated. With the aim of restoring this premium Estate to its erstwhile glory, SIDCO engaged KCP Engineers as its Managing Associate for implementing a comprehensive Integrated Infrastructure Development Programme. The Programme envisages improvement of about 15 km of road network and provision of storm water drain in the Estate premises besides access management measures at a cost of Rs 27.95 Crores. The scope of work assigned to KCP Engineers was completed in the year 2012.
